This project is a detournement of two Cold War era books - “How to Survive Nuclear Warfare” and “Camp Counselor’s Guide - 1962”. Using abstract shapes, figures, and words taken directly from both publications, I created a narrative involving a married couple. As a bisexual woman, I wanted to queer the conservative source material in a humorous and authentic way. I used vellum paper to experiment with color and a physically nonlinear reading experience.
The book is also hand-bound.
